The Jenk Gallery, located at 24 Boulevard d’Italie, is hosting a captivating exhibition by visual artist Laurence Jenkell, renowned for her resin candy sculptures.
A Prestigious Pop-up Gallery
Laurence Jenkell, known as JENK, has opened her pop-up art gallery in Monaco. Espace 22, where the exhibition is held, is ideally situated in a prime area for both business and quality of life. The works on display, giant candies made from bronze, plexiglas, aluminium, marble, and Murano glass, have already been exhibited in various cities along the French Riviera, as well as in Monaco, where a 950 kg white marble candy is installed in front of the Monte-Carlo Bay. The exhibition at Espace 22 presents these universal sweets beneath an undulating ceiling designed by architect Olivier Deverini, with a glass staircase illuminated by LEDs, created by AODA – Agence Olivier Deverini Architectes. Jenkell’s works, crafted from a variety of materials, combine simplicity and universality, reflecting a deep artistic vision.
The Candy Artist
A self-taught artist, Laurence Jenkell, based in Vallauris, began her artistic career in the 1990s by working with materials such as packaging boxes and lipstick tubes, before creating her famous plexiglas candies. Once heated and sculpted, this material becomes soft and malleable, allowing Jenkell to create light, transparent works. Her candy sculptures, which have become her artistic signature, are now exhibited in many public spaces around the world and were even used for an installation at the G20 summit in Cannes in 2011.
